How it works

Unicorn helps you discover startups on Kickstarter and rally a community around the ones you believe in. Every fee Unicorn charges on a startup's token goes to that startup's treasury.

What Unicorn is

Unicorn is a discovery platform for startups raising money on Kickstarter. You can browse campaigns, follow the ones you like and talk with other supporters. Each startup can also have one community token: an optional way for supporters to gather around a project.

Unicorn charges a launch fee when a token is created and a small platform fee on every trade. 100% of those fees are allocated to the startup's own treasury. Unicorn keeps none of them.

Discovery first

Campaign details, funding progress and backers in one place.

One token per startup

Each startup gets a single community token, so its supporters gather in one place.

Fees fund the startup

Unicorn's launch and platform fees go to the startup's treasury, locked until its founders verify.

Discovering startups

Campaigns are imported from public Kickstarter listing pages. On this site, imported campaigns are approved automatically. Funding progress, backer counts and deadlines come from Kickstarter and are labelled as Kickstarter data.

Trending ranks startups by Kickstarter momentum, recent activity, community engagement and token activity. On the Discover page you can also search, and filter by category, funding progress, location or whether a startup already has a token.

Demo listing

Demo listings are fictional startups used for development and demos. They are clearly badged and never link to Kickstarter, so you can tell them apart from real campaigns at a glance.

Creating a token

Anyone signed in with a wallet can launch the community token for a startup, as long as the startup does not have one yet. The campaign must be live or successfully funded and approved by a Unicorn admin. Each startup can only ever have one token.

Every token launches on a bonding curve: a formula that sets the price from what is already in the curve. The price rises as people buy and falls as they sell, so nobody has to set a price by hand. Each token gets its own pool on Meteora's Dynamic Bonding Curve, a Solana program that runs the curve and holds its SOL. The price opens at 0.03 SOL per million tokens, and the curve completes when the pool holds 88.58 SOL. The token then graduates: Meteora moves it to a permanent Meteora pool with 100% of its liquidity locked for good, so nobody can pull it. From then on it trades in that pool, including through Jupiter.

Launching takes one wallet approval: a single transaction creates the token and its Meteora pool and pays the launch fee. Every token has a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens, and its mint and metadata are locked at launch, so nobody can ever mint more. Each buy and sell is a swap in the token's pool that your wallet approves, and the minimum you agree to receive is enforced on-chain.

Example: the first buy of 1 SOL

Each trade pays a 1.25% pool fee: Unicorn's 1% platform fee plus Meteora's 0.25%. On the first buy of 1 SOL, 0.01 SOL goes to the startup's treasury, 0.0025 SOL goes to Meteora as its own fee (not startup money), 0.9875 SOL goes into the pool, and the buyer receives about 31.9m tokens.

Launch a token

Fees

Unicorn charges two fees on a startup's token. The launch fee of 0.02 SOL is paid once, when the token is created. The platform fee of 1% is taken from the SOL side of every trade: from what you pay when you buy, and from what you receive when you sell.

100% of both fees are allocated to that startup's treasury. They stay locked for 180 days from the moment they are allocated, and they are only ever released to a startup whose founders have verified with Unicorn.

On Solana mainnet, Meteora's program collects Unicorn's fees on-chain for Unicorn's fee wallet, and each startup's share is recorded in Unicorn's treasury ledger. Trades made anywhere, not only on Unicorn, are read back from the chain, so the startup is credited for every Unicorn fee Meteora collects.

Meteora also charges its own fees, on top of Unicorn's. Each trade pays a 1.25% pool fee in total: the 1% platform fee plus Meteora's 0.25%. The launch transaction pays 0.0222 SOL in total: the 0.02 SOL launch fee plus 0.0022 SOL for Meteora. Those are third-party fees. They go to Meteora, never to the startup, and are never counted as startup money.

Founder verification

Fees collect in a startup's treasury whether or not its founders know about Unicorn yet. To receive them, the founders prove they run the Kickstarter campaign. Founders start from the Verify this startup link on their startup's page.

  1. Submit the form

Say who you are, which campaign you run and where released fees should go.

  2. Post your proof code

Unicorn gives you a one-time code to post in a Kickstarter campaign update or your creator bio.

  3. A person checks it

A Unicorn admin looks for the code on Kickstarter and checks your details by hand. Nothing is automatic.

  4. Approval

The startup shows as verified, and unlocked fees can be released to its payout address.

Only one request per startup can be open at a time, and nothing about the token, its holders or its treasury changes while a request is being reviewed. That way nobody can take over a startup just by claiming to be its founder.

Transparency

Every fee allocation is written to an append-only ledger, one chain per startup treasury. Each entry stores a fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) of its own details plus the fingerprint of the entry before it. Changing, deleting or reordering any past entry breaks every fingerprint after it, so tampering is easy to spot. Amounts are never edited; only an entry's status moves on, for example from locked to released.

The transparency dashboard re-checks every chain and reconciles each fee charged on a launch or trade against exactly one allocation. Each startup also has its own treasury page listing every allocation.

Solana mainnet

This site is running on:Solana mainnet

This site runs on Solana mainnet. Tokens launch and trade in real Meteora pools on Solana, and every launch and trade is paid in real SOL.

Every launch and trade is a Solana transaction that your wallet approves, and you can look each one up on a public Solana explorer. Unicorn's fees are collected on-chain by Meteora, and each startup's share is recorded in Unicorn's treasury ledger, which you can browse in the ledger explorer.

The demo wallet

The demo wallet is not offered on Solana mainnet. To launch or trade here, connect your own Solana wallet with Connect wallet at the top of the page.

On the simulated network and on Solana devnet, the demo wallet lets you try Unicorn without installing a Solana wallet, using a throwaway keypair your browser creates. It never holds anything of value.
